SpammingWhat is Spamming? A SPAM post is a post that is off-topic from the discussion that is supposed to be. For example, in the Nintendo board, you need to talk about Nintendo, not Sony or Microsoft. Spam posts can also be considered multiple posts (a member posting two or more times in the same thread at the same time instead of putting the posts all in one post), or advertising. What will happen if I spam? Basically, your post will be deleted or locked, and you will be warned. Multiple offenses will cause your posting ability to be removed. Don't make us do it. What is flaming?A flame is a usually offensive post that is basically a verbal attack towards another member. The most common type of a flame is simple name calling (NOOB!), but it can sometimes go further than that and lead to a 'flame war' where two people basically make each other look less and less mature. What will happen if I flame? Your posting ability will immediately be revoked and there is a decent chance you will receive a suspension. In extreme cases, you could become permanently banned. AdvertisingWhat is advertising? An advertisement is simply a link placed in a post that does not have any discussion purpose. For example, if someone links to their Website asking for you to join, that is advertising. However, if someone in the Nintendo board links to a YouTube video of someone playing Wii, that is definitely okay. What will happen if I advertise? An immediate suspension and linking to your site will be made impossible on The Gaming Coalition. Obviously, your post will be deleted as well. Advertising in your signature: You are allowed to put a link to your Website in your signature if you want. Just as long as it doesn't have any nudity, sexual content, or any other kind of explicit content. Spambots/Adbots: A spambot (also called an adbot) is a program that a hacker makes that registers for forums such as The Gaming Coalition and will start posting advertisements. Spambots usually try to look like actual members, so it is difficult to track Spambots. If you are suspicious that a member is a Spambot, please PM dscuber9000! ImagesWhat kind of images are allowed? This should be obvious. Nudity, sexual content, and other explicit content is strictly not allowed on The Gaming Coalition. Revealing clothing will probably be removed by moderators as well. What happens if I post an inappropriate image? You will immediately be banned, most likely, permanently. Your post will obviously be removed. SignaturesWhat is a signature? A signiture is an image or text (usually an image) that a user can edit. Each user's signature will be displayed after each of his/her post. To edit your signature, Click Here, but you must be logged in first. What cannot be put in a signature? All of the rules about images apply to image signatures. No nudity or sexual content. As for links, you are allowed to advertise your Website, just as long as the Website is appropriate. Image Signature Size Limit: The largest your signature is allowed to be is: 480x160 pixels. To check, go into Microsoft Paint, copy and paste your signature, then press 'Ctrl' and 'E'. Set the dimensions to 480 pixels (width) and 160 pixels (height). If your image is cut off a little, your image is too large. PunishmentsTypes of punishments: There are three types of punishment on The Gaming Coalition:
The warning system is a system that the moderators use to keep track of troublesome users. Let's say you make a minor mistake such as spamming once. A moderator will raise your warning level to 1 out of 5. If another moderator catches you doing it again, you will be raised to 2 out of 5. Obviously, a moderator will be less tolerant with a member with a high warning level, so try to keep yours low. Warning levels can be decreased. What is a suspension? If you do something more major such as getting into a flame war, a moderator will probably suspend you for a day or two for you to cool down a bit. you will be notified by either PM or E-Mail if you are suspended and you will not be able to post at all. What is a Perma-Ban? 'Perma-Ban' stands for Permanent Ban. If you do something very disruptive such as flooding a board (posting many off-topic posts), an Administrator (moderators do not have this delightful power) will permanently ban you, then log your E-Mail and IP Address. If you have no intention to cause trouble, you do not have to worry about a perma-ban at all. |
