Who didn't see this coming? Microsoft today announced plans to release a Zune HD which will directly compete with Apple's iPod touch.![]() It even looks like an iPod touch! Like the iPod touch, the Zune HD will feature a multi-touch screen and a web browser (some portable form of Internet Explorer, LOL). The best feature that is Zune-exclusive is an OLED screen (3.3") capable of HD playback. I'm not exactly sure how that works, but all sources seem to say that. Most interestingly, Microsoft said that the new Zune HD will communicate with the Xbox 360 in ways that we will learn about at E3. Source This is very interesting in terms of how Microsoft's E3 press conference will end up being like. Maybe instead of crappy casual games, they will try to please stockholders with this Zune/Xbox connectivity. Seems interesting, but I can't imagine this being an iPod touch killer without an app store. And if the screen indeed supports HD playback, holy crap will this thing be expensive. |

If I didn't already have a Touch, I'd find this very attention worthy. But seeing as I have a touch, my interest remains at the "curious" level. |

:o If I didn't know you were talking about the Zune, I would have to interrogate you on this "touch".

Well, some Websites are posting hands-on impressions on the Zune HD and while they are all very positive, none mention anything about Games on the device, and nothing in the interface suggests games or apps or anything like that. |

They aren't bad, it's just that iPods do almost everything better. The problem with iPods are that they are pretty expensive. Zunes certainly get the job done (I mean, all you need is something that will play music) but there are several brands that I would pick over a Zune. Zune HD looks fantastic, but I think this could possibly cost more money than an iPod touch, which are a little over-priced themselves. We'll just have to see. |

They're pretty good. I have a 120GB one. One of the main problems that I see with mine is that whenever you go to the pictures menu it takes some time to load every picture (Although this is due to the large hard drive most likely). I'm probably going to sell mine soon, anyways. I recently picked up a PSP which will basically be all I really need. The only reason I had a Zune was to listen to music and school and watch an occasional movie, which the PSP has a bigger screen for. |
