Senator Edward Kennedy, brother of President John Kennedy and Senator Robert Kennedy died from brain cancer early today. Ted Kennedy was a Senator from Massachusetts since 1962, making him one of the longest-sitting Senators. He played important roles in Civil Rights and dedicated his role of Senator to health care. A couple days before his death, Ted Kennedy wanted Massachusetts to change their laws that should his Senate seat become vacant, they would quickly replace him instead of having a new vote 135 days later. Unfortunately, Ted Kennedy died before that could happen, and now the health care reform bill that Ted Kennedy was an obvious big supporter of will receive one less vote. Also noteworthy is that the Democrats will no longer have a super majority in the Senate until Massachusetts gets a new Senator. Sad day.   John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Edward M. Kennedy |
