That's right, Sony finally broke through and won a month in American console sales. If you forget about handhelds of course, which the DSi continued to sell ridiculously. Here are the results: 1. DS: 524,000 2. PS3: 492,000 3. Wii: 463,000 4. 360: 353,000 5. PSP: 190,000 6. PS2: 146,000 All three of the main home consoles sold much more than they usually do, which was to be expected considering all three of them dropped in price. The PlayStation 3 had the most eventful September due to the $100 price drop and the introduction of the PS3 Slim, finally making the PS3 a competitive system. Of the three main consoles, Xbox 360 saw the smallest increase in sales, which you have to blame on Microsoft for not advertising the hell out of the Xbox 360 being $100 cheaper. 1. Halo 3: ODST (360) - 1,520,000 2. Wii Sports Resort (Wii) - 443,000 3. Madden NFL 10 (360) - 290,000 4. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS) - 258,000 5. The Beatles: Rock Band (360) - 254,000 6. Madden NFL 10 (PS3) - 247,000 7. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (360) - 236,000 8. Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3) - 213,000 9. Guitar Hero 5 (360) - 211,000 10. The Beatles: Rock Band (Wii) - 209,000 Bolded games represent new releases in the month of September. Nothing too shocking from the software charts. Halo obviously took the top spot, with more casual games like Wii Sports and Madden following much further behind. I would like to claim a personal victory in the rhythm genre war, with Beatles Rock Band over-taking Guitar Hero 5! GH5 even had an extra eight days of sales. Mwuhahahaha!!!Source |
