Activision is claiming that Modern Warfare 2 had the "biggest launch" in gaming history. To back that up, the release of Modern Warfare 2 created the single largest day in Xbox Live history with over two million users logging in at one given time. Meanwhile, the PS3 servers for the game crashed at launch, though Infinity Ward was able to fix the problem in less than a day. Modern Warfare 2 sold almost 5 million copies in one day in North America and Europe, breaking the single-day sales record. Microsoft is bragging that MW2 sold twice as many Xbox 360 copies as PlayStation 3 copies, and even poked fun at the server problems the PS3 version experienced. Source Man, I thought it would have taken a lot longer to break Halo 3's record. I wonder what Activision will do with Modern Warfare 3... |
