![]() Title: Modern Warfare 2 Publisher: Activision Developer: Infinity Ward Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC Genre: First Person Shooter Players: 1 Campaign, 2 Spec-Ops, 1-18 Online ESRB Rating: M for Mature ESRB Content: Blood, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Language Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to 2007’s Game of the Year Call of Duty 4. Modern Warfare 2 is facing quite a tough crowd this year – on top of having to live up to the expectations of many Call of Duty fans, there also have not been very many successful games this year. Modern Warfare 2 breaks through these hardships however, and ends up as one of the best first person shooters to date. Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare five years later. A terrorist group has taken over Russia, inciting numerous terrorist attacks over Russia. Overall, the story is a great experience to play. However, some of the story feels as though it was rushed, is lacking co-op, and is short weighing in at about 6 hours. The inclusion of a new mode, Spec Ops breathes a fresh breath of air into the game. Spec Ops are short missions designed for one or two players. They range from avoiding enemy patrols, aiming an airplane’s guns trying to protect your friendly on the ground, to snowmobiling. The inclusion of Spec Ops adds to the replayability to the game by far, and is a great feature if you have a friend over for a few minutes. Multiplayer was the biggest feature of Call of Duty 4, and you can tell the developers were dedicated to making the multiplayer the very best it could be. The multiplayer has an array of 16 modes; such as team death match, 3rd person, and capture the flag, but it also features 16 maps – from a small desert structure to a big mansion. The graphics are top-notch and you get the feel as if Infinity Ward really spent their time tuning the fine details of the maps. There are also many unlockables, ranging from weapons to gadgets, to even a new addition: custom titles and emblems, each of which make you have something fun to work for and extend the life of the game. ![]() The heartbeat sensor, which is one of the many weapon unlockables in the game, detects enemies in front of you Overall, Modern Warfare 2 is a beacon of light in an otherwise dull and boring year of gaming, and proves that Infinity Ward has the skills to make one amazing game. This review is going in my school newspaper!!! Good thing too, the girl who wrote the one before stinks at writing reviews. Edited by Shining_Saber, Nov 20 2009, 03:37 PM.

I'm thinking about buying the first Modern Warfare once it gets really cheap. I don't have any interest in the series, but so many people are literally in love with the game, that I'm bound to like it anyway.

I'm so happy they included all the unlocks and previously online-only multiplayer content in splitscreen. Now we finally have a game with some decent local multiplayer options. No more crappy preset classes .I really need to buy this along with a memory card for when I go to friends houses. For the first time ever, those memory cards actually look useful. Christmas is simply too far away, especially with all the spoilers floating around out there. |
