The Gaming Coalition has undergone another huge update, and it is in my opinion the best yet. The Quick Links table is gone after being one of the most pivotal and innovative features, yet all of the useful things it offered are still here on the forums. The most blatant new feature is the spiffed-up logo. Not only does it look better than the old logo, but it is so dynamic that it will require quite a bit of explanation. New Logo High and Low Resolution The biggest hurdle I've always had with creating dynamic logos is making them display correctly in all of the different operating systems, different web browsers, and different monitors. I used to "dumb down" the logo to the lowest standard, which created a bad-looking logo for everyone. This time, I decided to create two different logos: One for monitors with lower resolution, and one for monitors with higher resolution. If your screen displays 1280 pixels in width or more, you are treated to the high resolution logo that lowers the links bar for a better look, and it will display your username in the top right of the logo. If your monitor displays less than 1280 pixels in width, you lose those features because they would otherwise not display correctly at all and create problems. Links Bar All of the useful links in the Quick Links table are located right in the logo. Meanwhile, I made it easier to find the more useful features in the User CP by actually creating two sets of links. If you click on User CP, the userlinks will change to those more useful features. Since this moved the inbox to a less convenient location, I created a new alert system when the user gets a new message. A table similar-looking to the old Quick Links table will appear and offer a link. Release Dates Alert One of my favorite features here is the constant alert of when games are releasing. Not only is the Release Dates page useful for looking at all of the games releasing in the current month, but now the forums will alert you every day there are games releasing... without being annoying, of course. The box will only appear when new games have released, and will otherwise be invisible. If you close out of the box, a cookie will keep it hidden for another day when more games release. If people still find it annoying, I may work on a feature to keep it permanently disabled. Keep in mind that I'm still kind of testing this code. Since it creates a cookie, it isn't practical to test the code in a the short term or in a small scale. New Browser Support! Thanks to the big changes in the logo and Quick Links, we (accidentally) picked up a new browser that we fully support! The Mac OS version of Safari 4 is now fully compatible with The Gaming Coalition! Because of this, I may switch to it as my browser of choice. Anyway, that brings our list of supported browsers to:Firefox 3.5 (Mac OS 10.5 and up | Windows XP and up) Google Chrome 4.0 (Mac OS 10.5 and up | Windows XP and up) Safari 4 (Mac OS 10.5 and up | Windows XP and up) Opera 10 (Mac OS 10.5 and up | Windows XP and up) If The Gaming Coalition displays fine in Internet Explorer 8, it is pure coincidence, I assure you. ![]() --------------------------------- So that is what I was frantically working on for the past week. If you do not think something is working properly, or have ideas on how to improve the interface, please make a post in here! Personally, I already love the less amount of scrolling I have to do. Whenever you can minimize unnecessary scrolling in a forum, that is a good thing. Even with a hard decision like getting rid of my precious Quick Links table.

I love the new logo, its not what I was expecting. I think you should add Firefox 3.5 (Ubunut9.10Karmic) to your browser list. I use Ubuntu and I get the full res logo and the page works wonderfully. Anyways, Wonderful logo. Looking forward to getting used to it. |

That's great it looks fine with Ubuntu. I can't regularly test in Ubuntu, though. So really, it's just a happy coincidence if it works there.

I recently had to make the switch from XP to Ubuntu, so I'm glad everything is looking fine. |

Hehe. Windows isn't that bad. 7 raised the bar quite a bit for me. ![]() Although I do have to agree, if Linux had full driver support and all of my games worked on it, I'd probably be running it instead of Windows. |

I concur with Saber. Windows 7 is very quality, much better than anything previously released. Not that I had any qualms with any of them (until after using 7 that is).
